I have a new iPhone 14 with a new SIM/Number and would like to know the best way to set this up so I don’t lose any of my existing data/messages/photos etc on my old phone (which is still ‘live’ but I will be returning to someone). Can you help please? Thank you 🙂

Do you have a backup created either on iCloud or on your computer?

Yes. You are correct on all your assumptions. Transfer the data. Add your new number as a trusted number to your Apple ID. Remove the old phone number from your Apple ID.

Yes, my ‘old’ phone is backed up to iCloud. Am I right in saying I could use the Quick Start method to transfer everything to my new phone and once that’s done sign out of my Apple ID on my old phone and remove my old number as a trusted number? I’ve never had a new phone with a new number/SIM so this is the first time I’ve had to do this. Unfortunately this is due to a break up with my partner and my old phone is under his contract and I need to break all ties with him.
