private wifi address off and youtube app on ipad 10

I'm trying to control our children's technology usage through our wifi mesh network's parental controls. In order to use the controls, the private wifi setting needs to be turned off.

For some reason on our iPad 10, when the private wifi setting is turned off, YouTube will not work. Other apps seem to work fine (games, social apps, Safari, etc.). It's rather frustrating as my son keeps turning the private wifi address on in order to use YouTube and then doesn't turn it back off to enable the parental controls!

Has anyone run into this problem and how do you fix it? It doesn't seem to happen on my iPhone 11.

If enabled, try disabling iCloud Private Relay:

Settings > [Name / AppleID] > iCloud > [iCloud+] Private Relay > Private Relay - set to OFF

Next, force-restart the iPad:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
Press and hold the top button.
When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

After restarting the iPad, verify App connectivity and Parental Controls.
