LaCie D2 External hard drive goes to sleep when in use

Much like many other people, I have a Lacie D2 hard drive and it goes to sleep while in use. This makes my workflow very slow. Have spent hours and hours on teh phone with both Mac and Lacie. Have returned one drive and received another - same issue is happening with all three. It seems obvious that that is a software issue and not a hardware issue for that reason (like, the drive is not corrupted). Working on a Mac Studio with an Apple M1 Max in macOS Ventura 13.0.1. What's the fix?

Has Apple ever acknowledged this issue? This isn’t a one-off case—this issue has been reported across multiple Mac models, multiple macOS versions, and multiple external drives—yet Apple has never provided an official solution. Instead, users are left relying on: Never letting the Mac sleep (which isn’t practical) Using third-party apps like Jettison (which shouldn’t be necessary) It’s frustrating that such a fundamental issue—one that could lead to actual data loss—hasn’t been addressed. If Apple can engineer its own processors that run cool and efficiently, why can’t they fix something as simple as keeping an external drive connected properly? Has anyone found a permanent fix? External Lacie hard drive keeps falling asleep After switching to my new MacBook Pro (M2 Max, 2023 - Mac OS Ventura 13.2.1) my external Lacie hard drives keep falling asleep. Although the option Put hard disks to sleep when possible is set to Never. It's driving me crazy! Any way around this? Thanks Dieter
