Both lightning ports? An iPad will have only one Lightning port - or more recents models, a USB-C port.
As you are placing your iPad in rice - this might suggest that you have exposed your iPad to moisture, or it has become wet. Water and electronics do not make happy bedfellows. Your iPad is not designed to be water resistant. While it may survive being splashed with water if immediately dried, it will almost certainly suffer irreparable damage if submerged or allowed to get wet.
