It's NOT free streaming if you have to agree to pay $ 6.99/mo.
Last year I had NO problems watching the Friday night FREE streaming games
without giving any credit card information.
This year after spending over 2 hours with 4 different advisors only to find out
that a PAID account is required. The advisor suggested using a GIFT card for a
7 day free trial and then cancel.
There is clearly something wrong here.

This how I normally watch The Boston Red Sox. I should be able to watch our games no matter what.

The baseball season lasts longer than 7 days, doesn’t it? The FNB games started on April 7, with a current schedule upto June 30 announced, and summer and fall games to be announced later.

On another note:
Picture quality last year when I was able to watch compared to how I normally watch on Xfinity and NESN was clearly poorer.
I should be able to associate my Xfinity account with Apple TV to allow me to watch.
That's how other streaming services work like Chromecast, Roku and others showing that I'm authorized to watch with my Xfinity account

Unfortunately for you, that is not how MLB sold exclusive broadcast rights for the various game days.

The "how to watch" button for yesterday's game disappears after the game starts.
Unfortunately for me, you're right about no longer being able to watch when it's on Apple TV+. Fortunately, the only team I'm interested in are the Red Sox and there will only be a few games that I'll miss.
Last year, when I was able to watch, the picture quality wasn't up to par so it wasn't fun to watch.
If you do a Google search for Yankees then click on more games and select this Fridays game you will see a Streaming Options button that will show exactly what I said previously "Apple TV+ free".
If it's free why would I have to pay $6.99.
The other alternative is that my Roku offers 3 months free trial. I could buy a $10 Apple gift card and then cancel before the 3 months are up. This way is completely free.
