Why is it that the mileage from a friend in Find My is so much less than when I tap on directions? Right now directions say my son is 757 miles away which is correct, but Find My says 644 miles.

Directions is not typically a strait line. You have roads to cross and hills to pass. In contrast, Find My goes in a stroll line.

Might be the same reason that the driving distance from El Paso airport to DFW airport is 620 miles, while the flight distance from airport to airport is 552 miles.
Find My uses flight distance. Maps use road distance.
