If I’m sitting in my chair at home with my watch on the charger and I take the watch off the charger and put it on my wrist, HomeKit beeps and tells me that the cameras have come on because everyone has left home. Any idea why the act of putting on my watch makes my system think I left home?

On your Apple Watch, do you happen to have location settings enabled? This way Home gets an accurate location of where it is. Here's how per Get directions on Apple Watch - Apple Support:
On Apple Watch, go to Settings> Privacy & Security > Location Services to turn location services on or off.

If you haven't done so already, try updating your iPhone to iOS 16.4.1. Then update your Apple Watch Series 5 to watchOS 9.4. Check to see if the cameras and any other HomeKit accessories need to be updated as well. These troubleshooting steps may help with the issue you are having.

I’m having the exact same problem as you. Everything is running on the latest updates and locations services on etc. And every time I take my watch off charge, HomeKit changes to everyone has left home and turns my cameras etc on.
i see that the replies you’ve had aren’t very helpful, but have you figured it what’s happening??

Location services are turned on. If I open the map app, it knows that I am at home.
Nope I’m still having the same issue. Nothing I try helps at all. What’s odd is it tells me nobody’s home then if I leave and come back home it knows that I’m here.
