I am not able to attach or send files from Mac on whatsapp

I am not able to send/attach files from Mac to WhatsApp web on safari.. how can I resolve this ?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.2

Whatsapp and MacAir I am using whatsapp web on my new mac air 2. when I click on whatsapp media files, the files gets saved in my download folder instead of opening (so that I can decide if I want to save them at all !!). Can I only view the whatsapp files instead of saving them each time ? If I have to save them, can I default only Whatsapp attachments to a new folder instead of all attachments
