Does this process take care of unallocated memory space on the iPhone? I just want to make sure before I give my iPhone away
Erasing contents erases contents, and reloads and rebuilds everything, yes.
Keeping current on iOS is the best way to avoid bugs, as leaked memory or leaked storage would usually be considered.
