HomePod 2: 1️⃣ Volume DEFAULTS to 65% when idle 2️⃣ Automation NOT working

Hello all,

Just got myself a new pair of HomePod 2 and I have set them up as my main Mac Studio's speakers.

2 issues I noticed after days of testing and using the HomePod pair:

1️⃣ If the Mac Studio is left idle for a time, the volume defaults to 65%. It is always set at 100%

2️⃣ I read here and online that you can use Automation to set the speakers volume to the maximum at designated time, e.g. 12am, 1am.

I have set up some Automation and none of them works. I even did a manual test and also waited for the time to arrive, but the volume remain where it was and never move to the max 100%

Has anyone experience one or both issues? An hoping if you could share if there is a solution or alternative. Although it is "not much of a hassle" to have the Sound (icon/control) to appear in the Menu Bar to manually adjust the volume from time to time.

Thank you all. 🙏

First start by force quitting the home app and any apps you were using for sound, restart the device. Restart HomePod, then try your Automation test again .

A reset might help. Use the pressing the top method, then you need to set them up again

Funny that it’s 65%. I have on OG HonePod that keeps coming on at 65% when I use it in an automation with others that are all set to 30%. I don’t want to reset it because it is my worst one. It did seem to improve after the latest software update to 16.4.1. Install that if you see an update available.
