Title, Caption do not transfer when a photo is shared

This is still the case even with Titles and Captions of photos modified on icloud.com/photos on a computer not being reflected on the Photos app on an iPhone and vice-versa, let alone when the photo is shared by sending a link to others.

I do not have that problem with Google Photos, which provides a field for a "description" of the photo, which is all that is needed. It also allows you to edit the photo, in every way, in the GC browser, as well as edit the name of the photo, none of which Apple does.

Have I got that wrong or am I missing a redeeming quality in Apple?

I just realized one more fact. The created link in Google Photos only preserves the Description field if viewed on photos.google.com. When downloaded, that field in the jpg file is blanked: it is not transferred this way either, but this field is still viewable, from the created link, on photos.google.com.

However, the link created in icloud.com/photos of a photo with non-blank Title/Caption leads to a web page where the Title/Caption fields are blank. When downloaded from the original icloud.com/photos page (w/ non-blank Title/Caption fields), it is a jpeg image file with the Description field still blank.

You mah got a faster response if you had shared.

  • Where did the Photos Com to iCloud Photos in the First Place?
  • Were they not taken on another iPhone?
  • Have the Photos been uploaded from Windows Laptop?
  • What is the image format used by you?
  • What was the process used to transfer to and fro from iCloud?

With the limited information that you have provided, It is hard to even guess the problems faced by you.
