iPad as extended display - how to DISABLE?

I'm running Ventura 13.2.1, and I recently started using an iPad in my office (the iPad stays on permanently and is connected to the computer via USB). Well, the Mac keeps thinking it should be an extended display, which is a welcome, but unwanted feature.

So I go into System Settings > Displays, and in the top pane, I see the iPad appear. I can click on it and click Disconnect. But every time I move my mouse to the left side of the screen (where my dock is), the iPad reactivates as an extended display!

How do I switch this feature off permanently? I don't want it.

Click on the Advanced button at the bottom of the Display Settings screen. You can turn off the automatic reconnect, etc.

Disable Sidecar in System Settings:

Open System Settings on your Mac.
Navigate to General and then to AirPlay & Handoff.
Here, you should find the option for Automatically AirPlay to TVs. Change it from "Automatically" to "Ask" or "Never".

This setting is already off. Yet anytime my mouse hits the left side of the screen (where my dock is), I see a line illuminate, and then the iPad reconnects.

This is preventing me from using my dock. Every time I go there, the dock stops working while the macOS reawakens the iPad I don't want to use as an extended display.

I don’t have an Advanced button. My Display is combined with Brightness.
