Accessing my 1998 PowerMac G3 HD from my 2019 MacBook Pro

Hi, I am trying to access the hard drive from my 1998 powermac g3 with my 2019 MacBook pro. I have a converter kit, and have removed the old WD Caviar 24300 drive from the old Mac. It's running, and my current computer is accessing essential info, but it's telling me it's not able to read it. I ran disk first aid, and it says it can't access it. Does anyone know of a way to access this old HD? Thanks!

What Mac OS and file system did the old Mac use?

The last version of the macOS that could read HFS was Mojave. For Catalina and newer, the disk format must be at least HFS+.

"HFS Plus or HFS+ (also known as Mac OS Extended or HFS Extended) is a journaling file system developed by Apple Inc. It replaced the Hierarchical File System (HFS) as the primary file system of Apple computers with the 1998 release of Mac OS 8.1."

Screenshot below shows how macOS 12.5.1 treats HFS disk image created in OS X 10.5.8.
