iMac boot problem. Boots to 50% then freezes.

Hey guys,

So I've been experiencing consistent boot issues over the last few months. I replaced my old hard drive with a SSD back in March, and ever since I've had this problem where my iMac will boot to 50% then freeze. I have been troubleshooting the issue for the last couple weeks, but cannot get to the bottom of it.

I have:

-- Reformatted the drive and reinstalled MacOS (several times)

-- Run disk utility and used first aid

-- Reset VRAM

-- Switched out my RAM sticks

Nothing worked.

So, it must have been just a bad drive... right?

Yesterday I ordered a new one (different make) and lo and behold... after I had set everything up, copied over my backup, installed bootcamp... the issue reared its head again.

Is my SATA cable malfunctioning? Is my Time Machine Backup corrupted in some way?

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

SOLVED:

It was my Time Machine backup. I reformatted the drive, reinstalled OS and set up a fresh account, transferring my data over by iCloud. The boot problem has resolved. I guess my backup got corrupted somewhere (first aid did show no problems though)
