Can I daisy chain a cinema display (miniDP) from a tunderbolt display?

I have a 2017 MBP (thunderbolt 3), a cinema display (miniDP), and a thunderbolt display.

If I use a docking station with miniDP ports, the cinema display works, if I use a thunderbolt 3(usb-c) to thunderbolt 2 adapter, the thunderbolt display works

But the cinema display (miniDP) doesn't work off the port in the back of the thunderbolt display. I'm noticing now on the apple tech specs for the thunderbolt display, it is a thunderbolt2 port on the back, not miniDP.

What's the best way to get this working? I don't really want to have to run both docking station and the adapter to get both monitors working.

You can't run a non-Thunderbolt display from the port on the back of a Thunderbolt display.

You could connect the Cinema Display to a second Thunderbolt 3/USB-C port on the laptop with a USB-C to Mini DisplayPort adapter, such as:

The adapter is smaller than a docking station and doesn't need power.
