Adding Purchased I-Tunes songs to iPod Shuffle

I can't sync a song I purchased in the iTunes Store to an old iPod shuffle - I get the message "To play Apple Music songs on your iPod, turn on Cloud Music Library on your iPod" How do I turn on Cloud Music on an iPod Shuffle device? These are songs that were purchased (not Apple Music subscription) and in my library as AAC songs. others have asked this before, but responses haven't been helpful.

Syncing Ipod Classic with Purchased Apple Music When I sync my Ipod classic (new!) with Apple Music, the purchased Apple music that has been downloaded is not going onto the Ipod classic. Someone asked a similar question and got this response "You cannot use DRM protected content from an Apple Music subscription on an iPod classic. Your should be able to sync other locally stored music using Finder." How do I "sync using Finder"?
