recent OS update, now my screen goes dark in five minutes

As it says on the tin...

If I leave it alone for five minutes, the screensaver flashes for a second before the entire screen goes dark. If I leave it alone long enough, it'll eventually log me out.

So far, I've tried adjusting a variety of options from the System Preferences, but it's all for nought!

Would Steve Jobs let something like this fly?

I don't think so.

If any of y'all's got a clue as to what's going on & how I might remedy this truly annoying fly in the new ointment, well... I'd really dig that.

Namaskar.

In addition to the settings that P. Phillips showed, and especially related to the being logged out part, you should look at the System Preferences->Security & Privacy->Advanced. There a setting for "Logout automatically after...".

Like P. Phillips, I am running Ventura, so the looks are different, but the principles are the same.
