Trying to connect my iPhone to my MacBook Pro 2015

When I try to connect my iPhone to my MacBook Pro the Trust This Device box keeps flashing on and off. It keeps connecting and disconnecting. I've tried multiple cords and multiple phones. It has to be the MacBook.

Getting iPhone to Stay Connected:

A. Boot in Safe Mode:

In Safe ModeLogin Items do not run at login, certain preferences are set aside, and damaged system files are then reset. So, once booted in to Safe Mode, wait 30 seconds, and then boot up normally, attempting another connection. For instructions, go here: How to Use Safe Mode on your Mac - Apple Support

B. Single Out this User:

Create a new administrator user, seeing if it connects with it. If is works, then it most certainly is an issue with the current user. If not, it is likely an issue with the entire macOS, or the hardware is just too old for the multitasking.
