Did you first eject the card as described in previous replies from myself and others?

If so, then I suggest there may be an issue with the card reader and you may wish to contact the manufacturer for additional guidance.

To eject an SD card, drag the icon that represents the card to the Trash. After the icon disappears from your desktop, you can remove the card from the slot.

Don't remove a card while your Mac is in sleep, as this could lead to data loss. Always wake your computer and eject the SD card before removing it from your Mac."

There are many methods. The easiest methods is to open Finders sidebar, select the card and right click and select Eject. Once ejected then pull it out.

An empty card reader can be unplugged at any time. It is the SD card in the card reader, that needs to be ejected before it is removed from the card reader.

Just drag the card from the desktop to the trash bin.
