Random sound chimes on iPhone 12 in silent mode

There have been random chimes or sounds coming from my iPhone at random times. It is two short chimes or sound that sounds like a lower pitch version of Calypso. No notification sound I saw matched it. All of the sound options for every app is turned off. My phone is always on silent mode. I don’t know what prompts it. It just happened twice when I exited a text conversation with my non-apple friend, but it had never happened with other chats and hasn’t happened with that contact prior. And the other times it did not occur with that action. One time I missed the swipe down for the menu at the top and then it chimed. I don’t even know what I was doing when it made that sound other times. I searched other posts where this may have happened but it wasn’t the notification sounds or the reminders app like it could have been with the others as I checked.

It's unusual for your iPhone to make random chimes or sounds, especially when you've turned off sound options for every app and set your phone to silent mode. However, it might be caused by a few different factors:

1. Accessibility Features: Sometimes, these chimes could be related to accessibility settings, like VoiceOver or AssistiveTouch. You can check if any accessibility features are enabled by going to Settings > Accessibility, and turn off any feature you don't use.

2. System or App Glitch: It's possible that a software glitch could be causing the random chimes. You can try restarting your phone to see if the issue persists. If it does, you might want to consider updating your iOS to the latest version (if available) or resetting your settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Note that this will reset your settings to default, so be prepared to adjust your settings again.

3. Third-party App: If you have installed any third-party apps that could potentially have access to your phone's sound settings or notifications, try uninstalling the app to see if the issue persists.

4. Hardware Issue: In rare cases, it might be a hardware issue causing the random chimes. You will need to reach out to Apple Support or visit an Apple Store for further assistance.

It can be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of the issue without more information, but these steps should help you narrow it down.
