Imessage read receipts

I texted someone on imessage on Monday and it showed they read the message on Wednesday at 5:13pm. Following that day it showed that they read the message “again” on Friday at 1:55pm. What could have caused this?

There could be several reasons why you sometimes receive read receipts on iMessage on your iPhone, and sometimes you don't and sometimes it is delayed. Here are a few possibilities:

  1. On iMessage, users have the option to turn off read receipts for all their conversations. If the other person has turned off read receipts, you will not receive them for that conversation.
  2. Similarly, if you have turned off read receipts on your iPhone, you will not receive them for any conversations.
  3. If you or the other person are experiencing connectivity issues or have a poor internet connection, read receipts may not be delivered.
  4. If the message has not been read yet, you will not receive a read receipt.
  5. iMessage may not be enabled: If the other person does not have iMessage enabled on their device, you will not receive read receipts.

These are some of the reasons known to me why you may not receive read receipts on iMessage on your iPhone.
