they will not connect and i checked out the steps but it did not turn white

Make sure the charging case and ear buds have adequate battery charge. If they won't connect and you can't check using your iPhone then simply leave the pods in the charging case, and connected to charging power for an hour or so. This should be enough to attempt a full reset.
Then simply follow the steps in How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support being careful not to skip any points even if you think it will not matter.
If you are still unable to reset and connect your AirPods, contact Apple Support for further advice.
