My Touch ID is completely gone from my settings after the most recent update, how do I get it back

I had touch ID on my Mac desktop computer up until the most recent update. Now I go into settings and the fingerprint icon only shows "login ID has been set for this computer", all the touch ID information is gone. How do I get it back?

Try toggling the power switch on the keyboard. If that doesn't work, plug it into the Mac with the Lightning cable.
