Hi, I have recently set up a child account on a new iPad. I want to download and set up Skype on the child’s account - this will be monitored but there seems to be no way to download Skype. Is there anyway a child can have the Skype app on ipad with parental settings?
On your iOS device - assign yourself as a Parent for your child’s Apple ID. ONLY if you will supervise your child use of Skype ( perhaps it’s used for a specific conversation with a specific person at a specific time) - change Content Restrictions for your child’s Apple ID - content restrictions- apps to 12+ for that period . Then Skype is available . Afterwards change back to 9+ or lower and Skype will not be available .

Skype certainly appears to be available for iPad - and can be installed from the Apple App Store. There appear to be two versions of the App:

Available parental controls will be accessible when the App has been installed and configured.
If your child does not meet the minimum age requirement as stated by the Service Provider - no, you’ll not be able (or should attempt) to circumvent their policy or controls.
Many online services have Terms of Use that restrict use by minors. Age restrictions are often applied for legal or safeguarding reasons.
Most services allow minors to use services if their parent’s have approved it by using their email to log in. I don’t think Skype is one of them, if your kid is using it to video conference with people, can I suggest Google Meet/Duo it’s available for 4+ and it gets set up with a google account. You can ask people your child might try to contact to switch to google meet.

that would be good to do but the Skype app says age 12 + and my child is younger so it will not even give me the option to allow the download under his account.
