Why has Apple secreted Boot Camp Assistant App on my Mac Mini

Why has Apple secreted Boot Camp Assistant App on my Mac Mini M1 - what is the purpose of including supposedly unnecessary software?

Whoever decided to include that Windows software on Apple Silicon M1 ‘s Ventura OS install, it seems unfathomable - if it supposedly (?) doesn’t function on the system… ?

This supposedly (nonfunctional) Boot Camp software is concealed from the Apple Silicon user; it doesn’t even show up in the Utilities folder where it is hidden from the user - it doesn’t show up in the Application list either. So, unless you stumble upon it like I did (searching for something else) you won’t even realise it’s there.

Furthermore, I can’t even delete it - feeling another (totally unnecessary) potential vulnerability to me - especially when these vulnerabilities seem to be coming thick and fast recently 😱

Why wouldn’t Apple have got rid of it by now for Apple Silicon software - this seems crazy?

Well I don’t surf the net at all on my Mac mini M1, I do that on an old Macbbook laptop, using live Linux system.

Yet, still with such little internet access, I find this Mac mini M1 misbehaving; it switched my Ethernet connection over to an LG modem on my LG display/ monitor. Who knew that an LG display has its own mini operating system onboard. Funny thing is my Mac permitted that behaviour, without any admin authorisation requests, so am left to ponder how that can happen without my consent or knowledge - it just happened silently in the background!

I do live in Australia where the government now have unparalleled power (beyond any powers any other governments have in the so called liberal western world) to direct companies to modify devices, so just as well I’m not doing anything wrong 🤣 but nonetheless, begs the question how one of the world’s most profitable companies cuts costs this way to save money, whilst potentially leaving potential software vulnerabilities built in.

By the way Apple haven’t been able to explain how my network switched to run on my screens (unknown at the time)network. I quickly deleted the LG app software (installed from the Apple Store of course) and switched from using the thunderbolt cable, over to hdmi to try and restrict this unexpected behaviour.

I had no idea this Boot Camp Assistant App was installed on my machine (it is concealed from the user), and seems like a really poor choice that has been made - why can’t Apple omit it from the Apple Silicon software versions. Cost can not surely be justified, given the profits Apple make - especially when it introduces another potential vulnerability.

I’ve been hacked a number of times whilst using Apple intel, so I am especially worried, that’s why I went out of my way to get the M1 Apple Silicon, now I find the Windows is hidden away.

But yes, I will lodge my concern to Apple on the request page, as mentioned earlier.

I am just querying Apples decision to include this concealed App, because I have already experienced unexplained problems with my network connection being changed without my Admin consent.

I was hoping that someone could explain the rationale behind Apple’s thinking in choosing to include it, besides being a cost saving measure that could possibly introduce another vulnerability.

Just saying, as I thought there might be some justification for its inclusion, but seems not - it is just unnecessary bloat.

I thought someone might have been able to suggest if there was a way of removing the unjustifiable bloat from my system, but seems not, sadly.

I guess that’s where the difference lies between systems, as many Linux distributions would allow the removal via a terminal command, which seems a highly configurable system in comparison.

I am just making the point that it is a very peculiar decision by Apple to include an App that supposedly doesn’t allow the use of Windows on the system - it is unwarranted bloatware - especially when the app is concealed from the user. It is difficult to understand.

Like I mentioned previously, I will register my request for this hidden Boot Camp Assistant App to be removed in future releases.

As we are not Apple but your fellow end users, we struggle a bit with rhetorical questions, especially about Apple policies and decisions. "Why does or doesn't Apple..." seems to be an eternal mystery. They are historically very closed-mouth about their reasons.
