Normally, LTE, 4G, 5G are displayed at the top left of the Home screen.

Which model iPhone SE? The second generation does not support 5G but the third does.
Contact your carrier.
You told us that you are using a MacBook Pro. Might you also be using an iPhone or iPad?
What model phone do you have? An iPhone 11 or earlier doesn't have the hardware for the 5G band
iPhone?
What does your Carrier provide?
What have you enabled on your device?
Do you not see anything in the Status Bar?
Pull down Control Center.

Mac does not have Cellular options.

Got it now. I'm on 4G.
My original question was "Does anyone know why both my wife and I never received the government test warning yesterday?"
We are both on Vodafone.

You will need to check with Vodafone regarding their policies. I am assuming that you have enabled emergency alerts on your iPhone.
