Apple Maps Send to Device does not work

Trying to use Send to Device in  Maps from Ventura (latest) to an iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone show in the list of devices but nothing happens when I click on the iPhone. Never get any notifications on my phone - nothing. I have all the Maps notifications turned on in the iPhone settings.

Can anyone help?

Hi Bobmac27,

We believe the following user guide can assist you in sharing a route from Maps: Plan a route on your Mac - Apple Support

Plan a route on your Mac

Before a big trip, you can plan your route on your Mac, and then share the details to another device (iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch). You must be signed in with the same Apple ID on your device and your Mac.
1. In the Maps app  on your Mac, click a location on the map, such as an intersection, landmark, or business.
2. In the place card, do one of the following:
* Get directions to this location: Click Directions.
* Create a route from this location: Click Create Route, then enter the destination in the To field.
3. If needed, adjust the starting and ending locations, or drag the Reorder button  next to a location to swap your starting and ending points.
4. Click the Drive  or Transit  button.
5. Click Plan.
6. Select Leave to choose when you want to leave your starting point, or Arrive to choose when you want to reach your destination.
7. Click the date to enter a new date, or use the calendar to select a new date.
8. Click the time to enter when you plan to leave or want to arrive.
9. Click Options, then choose any of the following:
* If you’re driving: Choose to avoid tolls and highways.
* If you’re taking public transportation: Choose which transit options you prefer, such as bus or ferry.
10. Click the Share button  in the toolbar, then choose the device you want to send directions to.
You get a notification on your device; tap it to open the directions in Maps.

Note: You can only share driving routes that don’t contain multiple stops. If you want to see a route with multiple stops on your iPhone or iPad, see Automatically get directions on your iPhone or iPad.

Regards.

"You can only share driving routes that don’t contain multiple stops."

Drew, thanks for the step by step explanation. That kind of detailed help is always appreciated.

But I gotta say, the limitation you mentioned in your note is just nuts. It's bad enough that it took Apple forever to allow multiple stops in a route--something Google Maps has had for many years--but now I find out that I can't share those routes between Apple devices? So I get to plan the whole trip over again on my phone? That's crazy.

This is a severe limitation, and somehow tied to security concerns. A person should be minimally allowed to create routes with any number of stops (though 15 stops is fine for now) and be able to share this route with a friend or relative. I'm confused why basic functionality has been disabled.

The ability to save routes in one's iCloud account also would be welcome.

@G_Luv; you are correct it doesn't work. I have tried to use the "Send to Device" for locations in Apple Maps. There are actually two options to Send to Device on the Interface. The standard send to and a location send to. The quality and maintaining of the software eco-systems has been declining for years...there needs to be a Software Quality Assurance Czar...Fix what is broken for once instead of adding silly little enhancements...Bet Cooks devices have custom code so he doesn't experience the bug ridden ecosystem...
