How do I set my iPhone Mail app (iOS 16) to leave a copy of email on the email server?

I use the Mail app on my iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 16.4.1 to view my Yahoo/SBCGlobal email account.

Emails downloaded to my phone don't appear in the Windows 11 Mail program on my laptop.

I've looked at all the setting in the Mail app on my phone and there is no option that I can find to tell it to leave a copy on the server.

You must set up the account as an IMAP account, rather than POP3. To do that you must go to Settings/Mail/Accounts, tap on the account then remove it. Then add it back; by default when you add it back it SHOULD configure automatically as IMAP. If it doesn’t contact support at the mail provider’s website. You may need to do the same on your computer if it isn’t then you need to do the same on your computer.

Yes, you will lose the emails on your phone, because they have been deleted from the server. If it isn’t many you can forward them to a different email account.

Or select all and move them to a folder somewhere back on the server. In the mail message view, tap Edit, then slide your finger down the selection circles in the column of messages in the iPhone. Scroll and slide a chunk, Move, and re-Edit and select the next chunk of messages.

To clarify, my question is about incoming mail.

If I use my phone to check my email and it, for example, downloads my weekly work schedule email, then go onto my laptop and open the mail program that comes with Windows 11, that email with my work schedule isn’t there.

The iPhone Mail app is apparently deleting downloaded emails from the mail server. The Windows Mail program does not.
