iPhone 14 pro will connect to 5mhz but not 2.4 mhz router

New iPhone wouldn’t connect to any Wi-Fi. Restarted phone and reset network connections. Now will not connect to 2.4 mhz but will connect to 5 mhz on same router.

Any ideas?

Your phone automatically looks for the best combination of speed, low noise, and lack of interference. It chose the 5 GHz connection for that reason.

2.4 GHz signals are slower, and typically pick up more interference simply because there are a lot more 2.4 Hz networks than 5 GHz. The only advantage to 2.4 GHz is that the signals are a bit stronger, and penetrate walls and other obstructions more effectively than 5 GHz.

Check your Wi-Fi router to see if it has an option to assign a different wireless network name to each of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz broadcasts. Then, you can "point" your iPhone at the specific network that you want, even though it might not be the best network to use.

Troubleshooting iPhone WiFi not Working:

Try The Following the the Order Provided:

I. Start Here: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t Connect to a Wi-Fi Network - Apple Support

II. What Else to Try:

A. Restarting the iPhone:

If any changes were made (i.e. Installed Apps), then Settings (i.e Wf-Fi), may have become manipulated technically. So, try restarting the iPhone:

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: Shut Down
  4. Slide: Your Finger to the Right

B. Disable Cellular:

Try disabling Cellular, and using Wi-Fi instead, seeing if that makes all the difference. Cellular always overrules Wi-Fi.

C. Try manually restarting your iPhone:

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Select: General
  3. Scroll to: the Very Bottom
  4. Select: Shut Down
  5. Slide Finger: to the Right
  6. Wait: 30 Seconds
  7. Power One: the iPhone
  8. Try this Once More

Thank you for the explanation.

I have two identical brand new phones, one connects, and one will not. Router SSIDs are different for each band.

When trying to connect to the band in question, it is added to ‘my networks’ list after entering the password, but will not connect on one of the new phones.

Will now try to reset router to factory settings. Will repost if that resolves my issue. I just find it odd that one phone will connect and one won’t.
