Users should use the on-device update options, whenever possible. Update your Apple TV - Apple Support.


If that is not accessible or if that doesn’t succeed, then you can try restoring the system software externally through a computer: Restore your Apple TV - Apple Support.

Apple TV (4th generation) would have an USB-C port for this. If your model Apple TV does not have an USB-C port, then it is not 4th generation.


For the Apple TV 4K models (without USB port) that need restoring, contact Apple Support for assistance instead.
