Software update 15.7.5

I’ve recently downloaded the latest software update 15.7.5 for my iPod 7th Generation. However, there’s a lag of about 10 secs before the music track chosen starts. There are no more updates planned for iPods to correct this. Can anyone suggest what I should do or can Apple do something about it? It seems very unfair and disappointing! Thanks

Hey there, Jazzualpaul,

Thanks so much for using Apple Support Communities.

Does this issue with Apple Music on your iPod continue to occur after you have restarted the device? If you're not sure, we'd recommend trying that and testing again because rebooting can often resolve these types of unexpected issues. Additionally, do you notice that this happens with music that you are streaming via Apple Music or are these songs you have downloaded locally to be played offline? That would be another good thing to test simply because isolating an issue can help make resolving it a little easier.

This article can help you download music for offline playback if you'd like to test that out: Add and download music from Apple Music

We hope this does the trick for you!

Cheers.

Welcome back Jazzualpaul,

Thank you. If it's music that's been downloaded from the iTunes Store, you can try to see if removing the music, then download it again as a past purchase helps:

Delete music in the Apple Music app - Apple Support

Redownload music - Apple Support

If it's music that has been imported from a CD or another source and then synced using iTunes, you can remove the songs/albums, then try to sync the music again.

Take care.

Hey Jazzualpaul,

Thanks for those details, its still not clear if this is music you’re streaming or music you have downloaded for offline use or not though. We’d suggest testing this out to isolate things a bit further. If its only happening with streamed music, it might also be a connection related issue and could help further guide our next troubleshooting path.

Take care!

1) I have iOS 15.7.5 and have not experienced your problem, so the update must be caused by something unique to your set-up.

2) While there will be no feature upgrade past iOS 15 for the iPod, that does not that there won't be another security/bug fix update (i.e. 15.7.6) If other people report the same problem as you, Apple might fix it in the future. You can let them know your problem by leaving them feedback:  Product Feedback - Apple

Thank you for your reply. I’ve rebooted several times and also returned my iPod Touch (Generation 7) to factory settings but no avail. The fault appears to be as a result of the ‘final’ final software update for iPods. I understand that there are no plans for any more iPod updates to be made. I’m hoping that if Apple are aware of this problem they may change their minds and correct this fault. The other alternative is to ‘remove’ the software update but I don’t think that can be done once it’s installed.

Hi Manjor and thank you for your reply. All the music in my music library and on my iPod has been bought and downloaded from iTunes. And just to say that I did delete a couple of recently bought songs and re-download them to see if that would resolve the problem. Unfortunately, it hasn’t so I don’t think that deleting my whole collection and re-downloading will make any difference in this case.

I’m convinced that the issue relates to the latest software update on my iPod as there were no problems prior to me downloading it. I did speak to an Apple advisor yesterday but they weren’t able to help me and suggested that I enquire on the forum instead. I’m disappointed because my iPod is less than 2 years old, and if I hadn’t updated with the 15.7.5 update it would have worked perfectly as before.

Best wishes and take care.
