Hopefully, the prior service was performed by an authorized Apple Service shop. Assuming that the service was done by an authorized dealer, take the phone back as the service was not done correctly.

If the battery replacement was not done by an authorized dealer, an authorized Apple dealer will now likely refuse to work on the phone because of tampering issues by an unauthorized shop.

If the battery was replaced by someone other than Apple or an authorized service provider, faceid will never work on that phone again, and Apple won’t touch it.
You can either live with it the way it is or buy a new phone.
Unauthorized service providers do not have the tools necessary to properly service the device and preserve the function of Face ID or Touch ID.
