Using CarPlay without Siri

I don’t need Siri. All I wanna do is play my music, using the same touch screen that I use for things like: radio, air conditioning, maps, heated seats, heated steering wheel, etc all things my vehicle has _built into the darn screen control unit_

yet I can’t play tidal. Siri must be enabled.

yet I can’t use the maps on the phone. Siri must be enabled. Yet I can’t…

look, there are some things that the built displays do that don’t require “sound activation” for. So why can’t Apple allow us to use those same darn things?!

I am forced to do the illegal and look down/operate on my phone instead of the central dash monitor where all my other gizmos are controlled _without Siri_. Where is the safety in this?!

at the very least when I finally had enough and enable Siri _just for this one trip to the store_ please for the love of god stop asking me to “set up Siri, say ‘Hey Siri’”…

Interesting. I found a solution. But I am not sure why it didn’t work earlier today. Perhaps vehicle must be in motion (nope, just confirmed)?

elaboration; I do not want to enable “Listen for Hey Siri”. I am fine with the other Siri setting(s) right below it; press side button for Siri. And; enable Siri while locked. These are far less power hungry.

These two settings (perhaps only one of them) seem to allow CarPlay to function on your vehicle’s screen (infotainment center).

what’s strange is that I don’t recall enabling/disabling these. But attempting to use CarPlay in a controlled environment (in the driveway, rolling forward, etc) works fine.

Saying again: Listen for Hey Siri is off. Wifi is off. Bluetooth is off. Cellar data is off. CarPlay works fine. Other posts I’m reading suggest this shouldn’t work?
