Scrolling issues when returning to email preview pane on iPad.

On iPad, how do I return to an opened blue-highlighted email in my preview pane after I follow a link in that email without having to scroll through the preview pane to hunt for that email upon returning to mail? In the past, the preview pane would be in the same place where I would open the email. Now, upon returning to mail, the preview pane seems to be in some random location and I have to scroll, usually upwards, to find the original highlighted email. Very frustrating!
