iMessage Messages for one contact disappearing

I have a single contact where their messages are disappearing right after sending/receiving and I have no idea what is going on. I can send them a message and they receive it and can respond. I'll see their response in my notifications but when I click (on my Mac) or tap (on my iPhone) it's a blank chat. Upon returning to the messages main screen, I see the conversation fly down the list and disappear. I've deleted the thread by sending a fresh message to them which shows the message in the main messages screen until they reply. I've also deleted their contact from my contact list. I've rebooted everything. I'm at a loss, any ideas?

Hi Destiny,

I had the same thought early on and no the contact is not blocked. Time on all my devices is correct.

It seems if I disable iMessages in iCloud that the issue resolves and the messages stop disappearing.

Is this contact blocked on either the iPhone or Mac? If so, this may be expected behavior. Use the following to check if the contact was somehow added to your blocked list:

If the contact is blocked, remove it from the blocked list to resolve the issue.

If the contact is not being blocked, then we'll need more information to further help. Do you have the correct date and time on both the iPhone and Mac for your location? As the incorrect time may result in unexpected behavior.
