I airdropped a large (3.6 GB) quicktime movie file twice from my desktop to my iPhone 12 (I know because I can tell that the remaining storage has diminished by that much on the iPhone.)
Now, I can't find the file anywhere on my phone. Not in the photo app or in the file folder.
Very strange.
Any help locating the file would be greatly appreciated.

If you swipe down from the middle of your Home Screen do you get any results when you search for the name of that video? This article has more details on the Search feature, for reference: Use Search on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If you don't see any search results, does this behavior also occur with other files?
How about if you use AirDrop to send the file to another device, if available?

Talked to someone from Apple on the phone. Did not find the solution.
Talked to someone from Apple at the STORE. Did not find the solution.
Then, an IOS software update came up. I updated and in the process the "ghost" file disappeared. I know because my data storage count went back up (by the size of the missing video file.) So, that is good. At least I got some storage back.
Will test the process again with smaller video files and see if I run into the same problem. The process did work fine before with a much smaller file around 39 mb. Was told by the Apple store tech guy that AirDrop IS the preferred route to transfer video from the desktop to the iPhone.
