I have an Apple 10 gen iPad. I bought the first gen Apple Pencil but the pencil does not fit in the iPad. Did I buy the wrong pencil?
I have a gen 10 iPad and bought a gen 1 pencil. Is this the correct pencil for my iPad?

iPad (10th generation)
The first generation Pencil is charged and paired from iPad10 using the iPad charging cable - and an Apple USB-C to Apple Pencil Adapter:
New first generation Pencils now ship with this special adapter in the box along with the Pencil. However, some older stock purchased from retailers may lack the USB-C to Lightning adapter - and may instead have an older (and visually very similar) Lightning to Lightning Adapter.
For owners of older first generation Pencils, or for “old stock” new Pencils, the new special adapter can be purchased directly from Apple as an accessory.

As such, if purchasing a new first generation Apple Pencil to accompany an iPad10, you might be best advised to visit an Apple Store or Apple Authorised Retailer that has a high-turnover of stock - and ensure that the Pencil box indicates that the correct adapter is included.
If necessary, open the box in the Store and check that the USB-C/Lightning adapter is present - noting that the older Lightning/Lightning adapter looks very similar to the USB-C/Lightning adapter.

Apple Pencil Compatibility:
An Apple Pencil is not manufactured to fin in an iPad. You need a second generation Apple Pencil. See the list of compatible devices here: Apple Pencil Compatibility - Apple Support
You bought the right one, but need an adapter as described in the Related Article above.
TheLittles: The information in the article you linked to contradicts what you wrote.

I stand corrected. Scrolling down, saw the incorrect model.
Can I use a USB-C/Lightning cable with a USB-C to USB Adapter?
Or do I need a specific Apple cable that doesn't involve an adapter?
