I’ve noticed that some updated iPhone’s can not view their recently deleted messages. How do they fix this? Is there a way to turn that off with the new update?

One thing to note and that is You need iOS 16, iPadOS 16.1, or later to recover deleted messages and conversations. The option will only show under the following conditions:
You can only recover messages and conversations that you deleted within the last 30 to 40 days. If you delete a message before you update to iOS 16, iPadOS 16, or later, you can't recover that message.

How come my phone that is up to date can show deleted messages but my friends phone, also up to date, doesn’t have that option?
