MacBook Air M2 feedback and requests.
Here is my Voice of the Customer feedback for Apple HQ regarding the MacBook Air M2.
My previous laptops were two Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360's One was a i7 and the other a i5. Both less than a year old. These were very good machines, thin (11mm) light and very capable, battery life was also good. However the Windows 11 and Intel combination is compromised at the limit of fine tuning by the Intel chip which is power hungry. ie - It needs a lot of power/battery, generates heat, etc. So I changed to the MacBook Air M2 (8GB and 512GB) at the beginning of 2023.
This is a much better machine but there are a few requests.
The Good points - Performance and battery life are excellent from the Apple Chip and we can only think that the M3 will be better. 11mm thick is good, MagSafe 3 charger is great, screen is fantastic. The new thinner bezels are much better than the M1. I think they could get even thinner with the next generation of M3 Air.
I have made about 30 adjustments to the way the M2 Air works and it's fast and consistent.
The MacBook Air M2 points that are annoying but not really performance impacting are -
- Why can't we (The customer) remove all those system apps like Chess, News, etc that some of us don't use. I have read all the Apple feedback but I can't see how Chess is a necessary part of the operating system.
- The system data file ? many GB's of ?. Again why can't we the customer, see and remove files ? I distrust the clean up apps on sale so I will be just putting up with it.
- 16 GB of ram as standard would be more inline with 2023.
Overall an excellent machine.
Bob UK.
