Cannot Create an Alias

I have tried to create an alias and it is not working. I have followed these instructions below;



Once I create the alias and click done I receive this message.





Please help.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you're unable to create an alias. When trying to do so, you're prompted with an error message. If so, we'd like to help out and recommend some troubleshooting steps you can try. If you're using a computer to create your new alias, try using a different device to see if that helps out.


If you don't have access to another device, and you're using a Mac, let's try these steps below:


1.) Clear your Safari history: Clear your browsing history in Safari on Mac - Apple Support

2.) Close Safari: How to force an app to quit on your Mac - Apple Support

3.) Hold down Shift and reopen Safari.


Once you've attempted these steps, try to create your alias again. If you're connected to a VPN or using anti-virus softwares, please pause them. These type of softwares can sometimes interfere with communications. If these steps don't help, you might have to sign out of iCloud and sign back in. This resource can show you how to sign out and what to expect when you sign out of iCloud: Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac - Apple Support
