Desktop Screen Unstable With Catalina

Upgraded from Sierra to Catalina. Completed without problems. However when working with some apps, the desktop screen keeps moving, jumping as I try to use the app. It becomes unresponsive with a blue border, returns with a mouse movement, then I have to relocate the mouse again. I seem to spend much time chasing my work and screen. In fact it happened just as I was trying to submit this question. I'll keep trying!

I hope this is "an improvement" that can be reversed by some change in the preferences that I haven't found.

Thank you for your help.

Hi elkriverken,

It sounds like you may have Hot Corners set to open Mission Control on your iMac. If you're not familiar with this feature, it can definitely be confusing. Hot Corners is a feature on your Mac that triggers different settings when the cursor touches the corner. You can check to see if you have any corners enabled with this path.

1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Desktop & Screen Saver, then click Screen Saver.
2. Click Hot Corners.
3. Click the pop-up menu for each corner to see or set the action.

Other ways you may have Mission Control set to open can be viewed in "Enter or leave Mission Control" here: See open windows and spaces in Mission Control on Mac - Apple Support

Kindest Regards.
