Well, I already uninstalled it since I only wanted to test the method but I can tell you what I did. I clicked on the image I wanted to save which opens the image. Then clicked the download icon (downward pointed arrow), which opens a save dialog and chose where I want to save it. I changed it from the default "Downloads" folder to the Desktop.
The answer there is wrong. it's not possible.
Oh, now i understand. yes i had this option also when i downloaded the app for the first time, but after you downloaded once there's no other chance to change it. i even tried uninstall and install, but still it doesn't give you this option again.

When I download doc. files from WhatsApp chat, is it possible to have the option for choosing the download path (The folder where I want to save the files) instead of having the "Downloads" folder as a default option?
According to Mal-S's reply in the link you posted it's possible unless something changed with WhatsApp.

I seem to remember being able to choose more than once but I didn't test it for very long. As I mentioned previously, you can always contact WhatsApp and ask.
