One effective way to recover deleted data from an iPhone is by making a local iOS backup (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/iphone/iph3ecf67d29/ios) and then decrypting and analyzing the file structure (kind of like a forensic investigation).

Specialized software, like Disk Drill, iPhone Backup Extractor, FoneLab etc.., plays a key role in this process. These programs copy all your iPhone's data to your computer and then break down this copy, following the iOS file system structure.

In the analysis of the local backup, you find not just the directly deleted photos, but also various other images, including those saved in caches, thumbnails, photos shared through social networks, and those saved in notes and documents. This means that even if the original photo was deleted, there's a chance to find its thumbnail version or some other form of the copy.

This data recovery method is useful not just for photos, but also for other types of files lost or deleted from the device. It offers a second chance at retrieving valuable data, which is priceless in situations where normal recovery methods fail.

Check your Recently Deleted album

Go to Photos > Albums, and tap Recently Deleted in the Utilities section.

On your iPhone or iPad

1. In iOS 16, iPadOS 16.1, or later, use Face ID or Touch ID to unlock your Recently Deleted album.

2. Tap a photo or video, then tap Recover. To recover multiple photos, tap Select, select your photos or videos, then tap Recover.

3. Confirm that you want to recover the photos or videos.

Retrieving Deleted Photos:

Loss of data is something you would have agreed to upon opening an Apple Account. So, if the following does not work, then they are gone. That's just the way it is :(

Four Tactics to Try:

A. Start here: If you're Missing Photos or Videos in the Photos app - Apple Support

B. Check iCloud, Directly:

For Photos: Go here, and see if they reside in iCloudhttps://www.icloud.com/photos

C. Restore your iPhone from a Backup:

Have any backups of this iPhone prior to this occurrence? If so, restore your iPhone from one that has these photos (the most recent backup, ideally). If not, then take this as a learning experience, knowing to always back up your device for recovery purposes. Important: Back up you iPhone prior to performing this restoration, should anything go wrong from here on out.

D. Where Else to Check:

  1. PC
  2. PDA
  3. eMail
  4. Mac Device
  5. Cloud Storage
  6. Android Phone
  7. USB Flash Drive
  8. External Hard drive
  9. Secure Digital Card
  10. Compact Flash Card
