Syncing a shared Microsoft 365 address list in Contacts.app

We recently subscribed to Microsoft 365.

We want to have a shared company-wide contacts list that we can sync using Contacts.app

I thought I would create a Group (or Shared Mailbox) and use that. But there's no login details for a Group or Shared Mailbox, so how do we use Contacts.app with Microsoft 365?

Yes, it was relatively simple in the end:

  1. In Admin Centre go to Active Users and you'll find a user associated with the Shared Mailbox.
  2. Click on that user and create a password by going to 'reset password' (you can uncheck all the options).
  3. Now simply add this account in Mail.app as an Exchange account using the Shared Mailbox email address as the username and the password you just created.
