Watch 8 sleep data rather inaccurate on a regular basis???

I am seeing rather inaccurate data on multiple days for several months. Finally irritated me enough to reach out. I talked with support today and after a lengthy discussion (in which they checked this Community) it was suggested I un-pair the watch and re-pair as a new watch. I have done that, so will review over the next few days.

But here is recent data from yesterday.

1 - Time in bed: 7 hr - 22 min

2 - Time asleep: 6 hr 12 min

3 - Difference: 1 hr 10 min

4 - Awake: 14 min

If you add all the stages they = 6 hr 26 m. Less 14m awake = Time asleep, as noted in the pic.

So what is up with "Time in bed" in the equation? There is almost an hour missing.

When I touch the screen to set the line at the very first sleep item, it shows 11:46 p.m. - 12:01 p.m.

When going to bed, that is it, no phone, no reading, nothing else.

I have sleep focus set up. It is set for 11 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., every day. It seems to be doing what is expected and not interfering in any way?? It does alert me 45 minutes before my "sleep-time" to wind down. It also alerts me if the battery charge is too low to make it through the night. Like those aspects a lot.

I rarely go to sleep on time, occasionally earlier. Apparently, the watch knows when I have entered bed and when I am awake and when I am sleeping.

One day earlier is more confusing:

1 - Time in bed: 9 hr - 4 min

2 - Time asleep: 6 hr 46 min

3 - Difference: 1 hr 10 min

4 - Awake: 14 min

There is almost a 2-hour discrepancy.

Which begs me to ask; If I fall asleep in my chair watching TV, before bed, is the watch picking that up as time in bed? And the reason that sleep time is not plotted in the graph, is the graph only begins at the start time of the Sleep Focus which is 11:00 p.m??? Makes some sense because there is no graph which begins before 11:00 p.m.

I see people asking why their mid-day nap did not get included in sleep data? Simply because of Sleep Focus?

Thx DD

From what I understand, and how it seems to work for me, it will only start tracking when sleep mode is activated, as per the attached article you can manually turn on sleep mode if you were to head for a nap, although this may be tricky to accomplish when nodding off in a chair (or in my case on the couch!).

Might be good to try and turn on Sleep Mode manually when heading to bed early, it should reduce those discrepencies you're seeing.

Thx for the info. It does start tracking automatically when you have a sleep schedule. It will record for the duration between the start and stop sleep schedule. So, not necessary to start it manually. However, starting it manually for a nap when you are in control of beginning and end is definitely the way to go.

I experimented and changed my sleep schedule to begin a bit earlier than when I tend to fall asleep watching tv. It was 11 pm start to 6:30 a.m. end. I changed it to 8pm start, 8 a.m. end. Last night it did record my 18 min snooze nap from 9:21 to 9:39. Then I stayed up for another 1 hr-19min and went to bed. The tracking began automatically at 11:33 pm through until 5:55 am.

The Time In Bed # and the Time Asleep # still do not compute exactly but they are pretty close.
