Lenovo thinkvision E24-28

I connect my external display and it gets recognized. However it keeps dark / standby. MacBook Pro (M2 2022) recognizes the display but I can’t use it. I’m using and adaptor HMDI to USB-C

It's an issue derived from the lack of specific Mac drivers, which affects power management. The monitor acts as if there is no signal and goes into standby. Switching ports just restarts the timer, so to speak.

The only workaround we've found involves going to the Mac's settings, Monitors, and in the advanced configuration of the ThinkVision, setting every power saving option off. This enables normal use, except that the monitor won't go into standby even if the Mac does (white pilot light, theoretical high energy use even if the screen is black). There's got to be a less blunt way to do it, though...

Hey jomrt27,

First, make sure your Mac and external display are set up correctly: Connect a display to your Mac - Apple Support. Please note that some of the settings may be part of the display’s built-in controls and menu system.

If you’re still unable to see the screen of the external display, see if the steps in this article correct it: If your external display is dark or low resolution - Apple Support

If it’s still not working as expected, here’s Lenovo’s user guide for your monitor: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/monitor/e24_28_english_user_guide.pdf

Please let us know the results when you're able.

All the best.
