iPhone 14 Plus photos

I would like to remove many of my photos and keep the ones I remove from the phone in an external drive.

I have Windows 11 's photo and iCloud.

I am not skilled with the Windows program and when I download from the cloud it is in a zip file.

I was thinking of ticking each one I want to remove in the cloud and let it hen download as one zip.

Hopefully when I extract there would be photos I could work with. But I am unsure if I can do this.

Do you have any ideas to help me get this done?
