I moved about a month ago, bringing my router with me. I have already sent the corrected location information to Skyhook, though I hear Apple is no longer using their database. I just got a new Macbook Pro yesterday. No matter which application I use on the iPad: browser, maps, StarWalk, the location is still my old address. However, the MacBook Pro correctly identifies my current location in location aware websites like Google Maps. I assumed the two machines would use the same database, but it doesn't seem that way. Is there a fix for the iPad? I have tried resetting the machine with Location Services off, then turning them back on again, with no improvement. I wish Apple provided a simpler way to update wireless router locations.
iPad 16GB WiFi, MacBook Pro 15",
Mac OS X (10.6.4)
Have you already turned off the iPad?
If yes, then I would try to restore the iPad - but don't let iTunes use a backup, rather set it up as a new device…
If everything else doesn't help and you say that your MacBook shows the correct location… then I guess it is the most effective way.
But make sure you synch the iPad first.
The rest should be painless:
• Restore the firmware with iTunes - IMPORTANT, don't let iTunes use one of your backups… set it up as a new device!
So, if I restore as new will I lose all my saved games and application data? Also, will I automatically be upgraded to the newest OS (3.2.2 I think) or should I download that while I'm at it, before restoring? Thanks.
