If you're still having problem with Spotlight try the following: Rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac - Apple Support
I did a zero install.
The author's first report had the speed at:
Write speed: 222 MB/s
Read speed: 504 MB/s
So you're right, something is off. Wonder if the rotational drive is beginning to fail. But that wouldn't affect Spotlight.
It looks like the Hackintool file is gone.
