My IPhone XS switches of immediately I plug in the charger and won’t come up until I remove the charger.It only charges when the screen is on.Please what can do about this situation.Thanks.

You may have a poor battery condition which cannot provide sufficient power for peak performance. What is the Battery Health of your iPhone? Open Settings ➔ Battery ➔ Battery Health and let us know which percentage you see for Maximum Capacity. Also note what is written under Peak Performance. If your battery's Maximum Capacity shows a value of 80% or less, then it has gone through its lifecycle and therefore should be replaced, according to Apple.

Are you using an Apple power source and Apple lightning cable? Or at least ones certified as Made for iPhone?
If it shuts off when you plug in the charger, and only charges when the phone is off, how can the screen be on when it is charging?
